TheHagueContractor.nl respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy statement explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information when you use our website, contact us or request a quote.

1. Who we are

TheHagueContractor.nl provides renovation and construction services in The Hague and the surrounding area, carried out by our team of specialists and selected partners.

2. What personal data we collect

When you submit a request or contact us, we may collect information such as:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Address or area of the property
  • Type of renovation or construction work
  • Estimated budget
  • Desired starting date
  • Project description
  • Photos, plans or documents that you choose to upload
  • Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp
  • Any other information you voluntarily provide to us

We may also collect technical information when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device information and website usage data (only with your consent where cookies are involved, see section 8).

3. How we use your personal data

We use your personal data to handle your request and, if you decide to proceed, to carry out your project. In particular, we may use your information to:

  • Review and assess your request
  • Contact you about your request, for example to arrange a site visit
  • Prepare a quote or proposal
  • Plan and carry out the work, together with the specialists and partners involved
  • Send invoices and keep our administration
  • Improve our website and our services
  • Prevent misuse or fraud
  • Comply with legal obligations

We process your personal data on the following legal grounds under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR/AVG):

  • Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing the contract: handling your quote request and carrying out the work.
  • Consent: for analytics and marketing cookies, and for processing the data you choose to send us. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interest: improving our website and services, and preventing misuse.
  • Legal obligation: for example keeping our financial administration as required by Dutch tax law.

5. Sharing your data with specialists and partners

Depending on the type of work, (parts of) your project may be carried out by specialists and partners we work with, such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, roofers, installers and other professionals.

When you submit a request, you agree that we may share the information you provide with the specialists and partners who are relevant to your project. They may use your information to:

  • Assess your project
  • Contact you about your request
  • Ask for additional information
  • Arrange a site visit
  • Prepare a quote, estimate or proposal
  • Carry out (parts of) the work

We only share your data where this is relevant to your request. We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for unrelated marketing purposes.

A partner that receives your data may process it as an independent data controller. Their own privacy policy may then also apply.

6. Service providers we use

To run our website and handle requests, we use service providers that process data on our behalf:

  • FormSubmit: processes the form on our website and forwards your request to us by email.
  • Hostinger: hosts our website.
  • Email providers: to receive and answer your messages.
  • WhatsApp (Meta): if you choose to contact us via WhatsApp, WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to that conversation.
  • Google (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics): only if you accept cookies, to measure how our website is used.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In that case appropriate safeguards apply, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

7. How long we keep your data

We do not keep your personal data longer than necessary:

  • Requests that do not lead to a project: up to 12 months after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Customers: for as long as needed to carry out the project and handle any warranty questions, and financial records for 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law.

8. Cookies

We only place analytics or marketing cookies after you have given consent via the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Strictly necessary functions, such as remembering your cookie choice, do not require consent.

9. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

10. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have incorrect data corrected
  • Have your data deleted
  • Restrict or object to the processing of your data
  • Receive your data in a structured format (data portability)
  • Withdraw your consent at any time

11. Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal data, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
