Delft is one of the best-known historic cities in the Netherlands, with its canals, the Markt, the Oude and Nieuwe Kerk, and a long history as the city of Delft Blue and the House of Orange. It is also home to TU Delft, which attracts students, researchers and their families from all over the world.

Things to know
- Monuments and protected centre: Delft has a very large number of listed buildings. For a monument, most changes need a permit, including some interior work. Facade changes in the protected centre are assessed strictly.
- Foundations: older buildings near the canals often stand on timber piles. Large structural changes or extensions need a careful assessment of the foundation.
- Logistics: narrow streets, bridges and canals make deliveries more complex.
- Own municipality: permits are handled by the municipality of Delft.
Renovating an older home

Frequently asked questions about Delft
Do you work in Delft?
Yes. Delft is close to The Hague and part of our working area, from the historic centre to the residential areas around it.
Can I renovate a listed canal house in Delft?
Yes, but for a monument you need a permit for most changes, inside and out. We work according to the permit conditions and use suitable materials and techniques.
What about access in the historic centre?
Narrow streets, canals and limited parking make logistics in the centre more complex. We plan deliveries carefully and arrange permission for skips or scaffolding where needed.
