An attic used only for storage is wasted space. With insulation, daylight and a good finish it becomes a bedroom, home office or playroom.
What we did
- Insulated the walls and roof of the attic
- Clad the walls with boards as a solid base for the finish
- Fitted a rooflight for daylight and ventilation
- Finished the sloping walls and knee walls
- Laid a herringbone floor
Daylight and comfort
A rooflight brings in far more light than a vertical window of the same size. With good insulation the attic stays warm in winter and is less hot in summer.
Want even more space?
If the headroom in your attic is limited, a dormer or a complete roof extension adds usable floor space. Read more about roof extensions and dormers and check the rules in our guide on permits for extensions.
